Green Weekend 2022: An Eco-Friendly Event in Rzeszów
Green Weekend 2022 was an eco-focused event held in Rzeszów on June 10, 11, and 12, 2022. The event kicked off with an Environmental Conference at the University of Rzeszów. The following day featured the Green Exchange and Outdoor Green Cinema at the Miłocin Estate. The event concluded with an Ecological Family Picnic in the Park of Polish Unity with the Homeland in Rzeszów.
The organizers tailored attractions to various target groups, attracting a broad audience, not just those passionate about ecology. The event caught the attention of companies, foundations, associations, and even state institutions dedicated to environmental protection.
The event was organized by Metkom, the Miłocin Estate Council, the University of Rzeszów’s College of Natural Sciences, and Rzeszów – the Capital of Innovation. The event was held under the Honorary Patronage of the Mayor of Rzeszów, Konrad Fijołek.
What Happened at the Environmental Conference at the University of Rzeszów?
On Friday, June 10, 2022, the University of Rzeszów hosted 14 speakers who shared their expertise in ecology, recycling, industrial waste, and renewable energy. The speakers included not only scientists but also representatives of state environmental agencies, industry experts, companies, and non-profit organizations.
During breaks, participants could interact with speakers, exchange observations, and network. The conference was open to everyone, allowing anyone interested to join.

Green Exchange and Outdoor Cinema
On Saturday, June 11, 2022, Green Weekend took root at the Miłocin Estate in Rzeszów. The day began with the Green Exchange, another edition of swapping metal scrap (e.g., aluminum cans), plastic bottles, paper waste, and e-waste for plants. This year, alongside Metkom, e-waste collection was supported by the Recover the Environment Foundation. For children, additional attractions included horseback riding and eco-workshops.
In the evening, moviegoers were treated to a special surprise. In the picturesque setting of the Mikołaj Kopernik Agro-Entrepreneurship School in Rzeszów, organizers set up an outdoor cinema with a large screen, deck chairs, and free popcorn. In addition to three ecology- and climate-focused films, attendees watched Green Book, the Oscar-winning movie.
A Beautiful Finale: The Ecological Family Picnic
On Sunday, June 12, 2022, Green Weekend concluded with an Ecological Family Picnic in the Park of Polish Unity with the Homeland in Rzeszów. Organizers prepared numerous attractions, including eco-workshops, a green fashion show, sensory English learning sessions, children’s animations, horseback rides, building a city from e-waste, flower bombs, electric scooters, inflatables, baseball, soccer, rugby, and more.
The event also featured the finale of the ECO TONES ecological song competition, organized by the City of Rzeszów. For those seeking forest tranquility, there was the Forest Stop, where participants enjoyed a free guided tour of the Głogowski Bór educational trail.
Rzeszów Plays Green: Eco City Game
During the picnic, participants engaged in an ecological city game, Rzeszów Plays Green. Teams followed a specially marked map, collecting items, answering questions, and ultimately finding a woman with a flower crown. The team with the most points and the fastest time won.
The grand prize, a FRUGAL CYBER electric scooter sponsored by Electricall, went to Mrs. Lucyna’s team. Congratulations again, and thank you to all participants for embracing the challenge. Well done, everyone!
