Metkom Supports Safety Days at Owens-Illinois – Education, Recycling, and Sustainable Development in Practice

Together with our business partner – Owens-Illinois – we took part in the Safety Days held at the company’s sites in Poznań and Jarosław. The event attracted many employees interested in occupational safety and environmental responsibility.

Metkom’s educational booth focused on recycling and proper segregation of industrial waste – both from Owens-Illinois directly and from other production processes.
Our main goal was to raise employee awareness about correct waste management and demonstrate the real potential of reusing raw materials.

What did we present?

  • Proper segregation paths – We explained clear and practical rules for sorting industrial waste, taking into account the specifics of various materials such as rubber, aluminum, steel, and plastics.
  • Waste processing stages – We illustrated step-by-step how selected waste fractions are cleaned and shredded, showing how seemingly useless remnants are turned into valuable resources.
  • Closed-loop recycling – We presented actual end products made from recovered materials, emphasizing the role of recycling in building a circular economy.

For us, it is crucial to highlight that segregation begins at the workstation – it’s the decision of each employee that determines whether a particular waste item will follow the path to proper reuse.

We believe that hands-on education is the most effective way to foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.

Thank you for the collaboration

Metkom’s participation in O-I’s Safety Days was not only an opportunity to share knowledge and experience but also another step toward building an informed, safe, and sustainable future.

We sincerely thank all O-I employees for their openness, active participation, and inspiring conversations.
